Long bio

Simon Gama is a multidisciplinary artist based in New York, USA. Raised in a family of makers, craftspeople and street vendors, he encountered creativity early as a form of work, imagination and survival. After arriving in the United States at seventeen, museums, galleries, books and direct observation became his informal education. Primarily self-taught, he has maintained an artistic practice since 2015. His work explores labor, migration, memory, identity, power and human vulnerability through painting, sculpture, installation and found objects. His series American Dream (2021–2025, sixteen works) is an autobiographical body of work built from wire, chains, found objects, industrial remnants and clothing worn in immigration detention. It is proposed as an immersive exhibition in three spaces — The Machine, The System and The Ghosts — and the artist is seeking a gallery, institution or curatorial partner for 2027.

American Dream (2021–2025) — 16 works. Proposed exhibition 2027.

Some works deal with difficult subject matter.
